Places to visit whilst on your visit with us:

Aberdovey

(6.7mi from 1 Rhys Terrace) Aberdovey beach is approximately 10km from the cottage. The village is located in the stunning Snowdonia National Park, and has been a tourist attraction since Victorian times. The golden sandy beach and undulating dunes offer plenty of possibilities: bracing coastal walks, playing with the family, or just finding your very own spot for a bit of RnR. Dogs are allowed on Aberdovey beach all year round, with restrictions on one section in front of the car park during the summer. A portion of the beach nearest the town is a dog-free zone, but otherwise the beach is open to dog walkers.

From a range of pubs and restaurants you can eat or drink by the harbor or grab yourselves a chippy to enjoy on the beach!

Talyllyn steam Railway

(8.3mi from 1 Rhys Terrace) A 2ft 3in narrow gauge steam railway running through south Snowdonia, from Tywyn on the coast to Dolgoch Falls, Abergynolwyn and the foot of the slate quarry at Nant Gwernol. The Worlds First Preserved Railway. Running continuously since 1865, the Talyllyn Railway represents a step back in time to the Victorian Age! The train clings to the hillside as it passes through woodland and over ravines, taking the route that the Victorians would have used daily. The trip takes about an hour each way. Your ticket allows you to break your journey and extend your day: you could take a country walk, explore wooded paths, discover waterfalls or visit the beach.

Tayllyn steam train stops at 6 beautiful, stunning locations including Dolgach falls. Dolgoch Falls have three sets of magnificent waterfalls in a beautiful wooded ravine, are served by Dolgoch station and many passengers alight here before rejoining the train later in the day. There are various walks around the falls including a circular tour taking in all three levels of the falls.

Castell y Bere

(18mi from 1 Rhys Terrace) Castell y Bere is a Welsh castle near Llanfihangel-y-pennant in Gwynedd, Wales. Constructed by Llywelyn the Great in the 1220s. The castle was originally built to protect the cattle, which were as good as currency back in those days! The picturesque and remote location stretches along the summit of a rocky outcrop on the eastern side of the Dysynni valley.

The castle is a great day out for walking and taking your 4 legged friends with you. Even to have a picnic when you get to the top with an amazing view.

"Lovely cottage in a small village. Facilities were excellent and our teenage daughter and friend made full use of the games room and board games that were left at the cottage. Cottage had everything we needed and was very comfortable for our 4 night stay. Beautiful area, and a park right next door which you can see from the garden if you have young children very handy. We didn't take our dog, but the hosts even provided for fur babies....dog bowls, towels, doggy bags and lead...never had any of these when we have stayed in a cottage, lovely touch. We had a brilliant time and would highly recommend Rhys Cottage"
